The reason Larson's Department Store has been around for so many years is the company emphasis on service and quality merchandise. Way back when, our founder Lloyd Larson said that Larson's sells “quality merchandise at reasonable prices.” His simple, yet powerful statement was true 70 years ago and remains true today.
Value for Your Dollar
Larson's “bread and butter” has always been clothing for working people living the Northern Idaho lifestyle (whether they are actually located in Idaho or not). Everyone from loggers to hunters to businesspeople wear our comfortable long-lasting clothes. If there were any type of definable Northwest “dress code” you'd probably find it at Larson's. In fact, people still shop with us, even after they move away from the Pacific Northwest.
Service the Way it Used to Be
When you buy clothing at Larson's you can expect extra personal touches. For example, if you've found the perfect pair of work boots, but one of your feet is slightly larger than the other, we have shoe stretchers we can use to stretch out a boot for a perfect fit. We can even stretch out boot tops so they fit folks with large calf muscles.
If you buy a hat, we can reshape or add stiffeners to it, so it fits just right. Our goal is to make it as easy and convenient for our customers to do business with us as possible.
Meeting Customer Needs
If you have somewhat unusual clothing requirements, you never know, we might be able to accommodate you. For example, a few years ago a trucker came in looking for a special type of suspenders that don't have clips on the back. (These clips are uncomfortable if you're sitting in a truck for hours on end.) Ever heard of “trucker suspenders?" Neither had we! But we looked into it and found them for a reasonable price. We told our trucker friend about it and gave him a pair to try out. He told more truckers, and soon we had lots of truckers stopping by because they hadn't been able to find this unique item anywhere else.
At Larson's, we also have been known to buy close-outs of products our customers have liked and bought from us for years. In fact, sometimes Larson's is the ONLY place you can find unusual older merchandise. After Levi's stopped making bell-bottoms, we ordered a bunch and still had a stash of them in the back for years. Why? Because our customers still wanted them!
Some of our customers had been buying a particular type of wool sock for years. When the manufacturer stopped making them, we bought boxes and boxes of them. One woman was so excited to find them again, she bought a dozen pairs.
